Welcome to my journey…

Hi guys,

Welcome to markrance.co.uk, and thanks for taking the time to read my first blog!

If we go back about a year (nearly to the day), the UK entered a national lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Pretty much no one anticipated the effect the virus would have on the world. We found ourselves working from home, while homeschooling an 8yo for 6 months of the last 12. Work/home boundaries were blurred, and everyone was looking at ways to get through it all.

Fast forward from then, and in January 2021, I found myself lacking some direction, and looking for ways to create a better balance for myself and my family. I found myself revisiting podcasts and YouTube videos searching for the answers.

As a sports fan, I followed Jake Humphrey on Twitter, and was aware of his High Performance Podcast. One day, when I was feeling particularly rubbish, I put on the episode with Matthew McConaughey and went for a walk.

This episode lit a fire inside me, and made me realise that I needed to find myself some ‘green lights’ as he would term it! So that was it, it was time to start moving along the road. I didn’t know the destination (yet) but I was ready to start the journey.

And this is that journey.

My exploration of productivity started as a way to give myself a bit more time, so I could restore the work/life balance that had been missing for so long. But along the way, something changed. I realised this was the journey now. I have learnt tons, and have already achieved so much (if I do say so myself!).

So far, I’ve started two YouTube Channels, started writing creatively, built a website from scratch, completed hours of online studying, read a couple of books, started keeping a daily journal, listened to numerous podcasts and watched hours of YouTube videos on a host of subjects. All in the last 8 weeks.

So, where do we go from here? In all honesty, I’m not sure, but I know I’m committed to this journey wholeheartedly because put simply:
