I’ve been recording and editing my videos for a little while now, and the process is always a little clunky. I thought this was simply down to me being a complete newcomer (or noob if you’d prefer!). However, after a bit of looking around, I came across TubeBuddy.
TubeBuddy is a Chrome extension and app that integrates directly into YouTube and helps you run your channel. As I knew that I was going to be uploading some content to my channel, I decided to sign up to their free account. Jeez, was it helpful straight away?!
The first task was to look at titles for the video, and it assessed how many similar videos there were, how many searches there have been, and essentially rated the concept of the video. I could then fine tune the title to ensure that it gave me as much chance as possible to get picked up by the algorithm.
From there, I used the extension directly in the YouTube studio by picking one keyword. It then provides a guide to create the perfect description, check’s your title and suggests a number of relevant keywords or tags. Pretty much all of this was automated.
You can use TubeBuddy to create a thumbnail, but I had already created one in Canva. I’ll definitely check out the thumbnail creator though, as it looks pretty decent.
From there, you can import all of the information into the YouTube Studio for your video, and it’s then just a case of going through the upload as normal. Such a brilliant and quick programme that gives me so much more confidence that my videos will get seen.
Following that, TubeBuddy has a load of really useful analytics on each video. I’ll be honest that I haven’t looked through that in loads of detail yet.
The free account was great, but I must admit that I pretty much instantly upgraded to their Pro account for additional features. I haven’t got round to checking them all out, but will putting some time aside to to do that.
