Some much has happened over the past few months, and I’ll definitely be giving you more detail in terms of the resources that I used, the systems I’ve utilised, and the progress that I have made. But to me, the below is the best place to start in terms of creating your own contact, no matter what form it may be.
Learn
Read, watch, listen study anything that you can. It will help you to develop your own thoughts to what you want to create, and how you can do it. Try not to waste time on unnecessary topics, but also don’t set your focus too small. Some of the best lessons I have learnt have come from the most obscure places. Trust your gut though, and just be open minded.
Start creating
I spent far too long building up to posting my first pieces of content. The best way to learn and refine you creations is to post, and learn. I wanted everything to be perfect, the website, the font, even the tiniest details. But trust me, no one will notice in the early days.
Just get your content out there!
Engage with others
Whether it is your social media idol, or the bloke from number 76, engage with them, what’s the worst that can happen. So far, I find I get a like on social media, or a thumbs up. But in contrast, my worries were that someone would tell me where to go. That simply doesn’t happen, at least not in my experience so far.
Don’ Stop!
This is the crucial bit. Take the three pointers above, and keep on doing them. Relentlessly. In time, your systems will refine, you’ll get better at what you’re doing, and the quality of your work will improve. But there is no quick and easy way to getting there, you’ve got to put in the hard yards.
Now, there are obviously boundaries, don’t burn yourself out or ignore your family for weeks on end. But you have to keep on going. Find a routine and stick to it. For me, this is why productivity is so important, as it means that I can fit everything in throughout the day.
So that’s my not so secret, secret.
But try, it may just be the most satisfying and fulfilling part of your day, week or month. It’s definitely looking that way for me right now…
