Burnout already??

So this may seem like a real deep and meaningful post already, but I listened to an interview with Austin Kleon, and it came across that blogging is not about the search for what you should say, but you blog because you have something to say.

And I feel this is something I need to tackle up front. The last couple of months have been amazing, I’ve learnt tons, discovered new resources and developed a lot personally.

But, it’s also been ridiculously hard work.

It has been a grind, in the truest sense of the word, but I have got through and still manaed to take a step forward every single day. And I’m bloody proud of that.

But, yesterday also really hit home for me. I spend hours recording and editing vides, trying my best to make them just right. And I was shattered. Luckily I have seen the signs of distress or burnout before, and I realised that I needed to take some time out.

So this morning, I watched a couple of videos by Matt D’Avella and Thomas Frank about anxiety and burnout, and they both really helped me understand what was going on and what I needed to do.

So, today I have started my restart sprint (as Thomas would term it) and I’ve slowed things down a bit. I didn’t have much to do today, so have really taken things back to basics and am doing my best to enjoy the process once again.

Now it seems ridiculous to think about burnout or anxiety as such a new comer to this world as I don’t have the stresses of staff or worrying about income. But on the flip side, I still ave a 40hr a week job, and I’m essentially doing all of this for zero return right now.

But the thing is, I love it! .

So, I’m just trying to find some balance for me, but if you’re new to this world of side hustles or just busy with work, don’t ever invalidate your feelings or health because someone else may have it worse. Try to find your balance, and do something that you enjoy tand hat can help you switch off from the world.

My Sunday looked like a long walk with the family in the countryside, and writing this blog. I’ve also got a new book to start later, but today is definitely a much slower pace. Today will help me regroup and re-energise ready to start hustling agin tomorrow!
