Skillshare, what is it and why do you need it?

Over the last couple fo months, I’ve been putting a lot of time and effort into developing myself personally. This has included reading, listening to podcasts and taking in a number of online courses, predominantly on Skillshare. So what is Skillshare I hear you ask, well, in their words:

Skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of classes for creative and curious people, on topics including illustration, design, photography, video, freelancing, and more. On Skillshare, millions of members come together to find inspiration and take the next step in their creative journey.

To me, Skillshare is a learning platform that allows you to connect with like minded ‘students’ looking at everything from video editing to excel pivot tables. And the best part is that they classes are delivered by the people that we look up to as online creatives.

People like Thomas Frank, Ali Abdaal and MKBHD (three of my biggest inspirations) have classes live at the moment, and there are so many more to come. You can browse through the catalogue of classes in many different topics and pick and choose the right one for you.

The classes generally provide a project for you to work on simultaneously and usually include a number of other resources for you to download. Classes range from 30 minutes (perfect for some lunch time learning) to 3 hours. And you can stop and start as you please, making sure you can complete the course in your own time.

For me, the flexibility and calibre of the teachers makes Skillshare an invaluable learning tool. I try to complete 15 minutes of a course per day to ensure that I am constantly gaining more knowledge. I vary the topics from productivity (obviously!) to video editing, and creative writing.

If you feel like giving Skillshare a go, you can get a 14 day free trial by using this link, so there really is no reason not to give it a go!

If you already use Skillshare, let me know what you think and what classes you’ve been taking.
